Folk will know how large your soul is by the way you treat a dog.
Charles F. Doran
The first Pet Nannies DOG OF THE MONTH is Elmo. Elmo is a 3 year old boxer/ridgeback cross and is a rescue dog from Assisi.
Inspite of a bad start to life he has become an adorable big softie and a wonderful family pet.
He loves to play hide and seek in the woods with Joshua & Ben (the children in his family) and just ...loves
going for long walks. Elmo is a regular homeboarder with The Pet Nannies and is a pleasure to have staying as he
is very affectionate and loves his home comforts. Congratulations Elmo (& owner Mark)!

How your dog benefits from being walked:![]()
- Regular exercise to ensure good physical and mental health
- Running and playing can tire a dog so he is less likely to misbehave
- Important socialization for raising well-adjusted dogs
- A tired dog is a happy dog!
Exercise
(walking) is the most important part of a dog's health. In the wild, dogs roam
for miles every day and that natural instinct to roam is still present in all
dogs - even yours. All dogs have different levels of energy - but even dogs with
the lowest amount of energy need at least one period of continuous exercise a
day, most experts agree.
A tired dog is a well-behaved dog. Through regular walking, many behavioural issues can begin to be resolved. After a long walk, your dog is in a calm state of mind and is more receptive to training and behaviour corrections.
Many dog owners feel that their back garden or an outside place for their dogs to play is enough. It's not. To your dog, your garden is nothing more than a large kennel. They must be able to travel over a distance at a continuous pace every day to get proper exercise.
The highlight of the day for a dog is their walk(s). By varying the routes, this allows the dog to explore new surroundings.
